Vail Vision October 28, 2005

Greetings in the name of our Risen Savior, Jesus.

Pastor Kauth was asked recently how the Vail mission was going and he replied, "We're just trying to keep up with God... What a joy it is to have God at the helm. It seems as if almost every day God finds truly amazing ways to bless this ministry. I am learning not to worry when God closes a door. He then opens a loading dock. From developing a core group, to finding a facility, to finding staff, to finding a worship team, to finding opportunities to outreach into the community, God's hand can be seen in it all. He is the Eveready Bunny on Steroids. It's exciting to be a part of something where you can literally see the hand of God at every move.

On Sunday we had our last evening Bible study. We studied the doxology from the Lord's Prayer, "For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever, amen... What a fitting way to end this phase of Christ Lutheran Vail. After seeing what God has done for the Vail mission one can only take a moment and praise God for all of His goodness.

Last weekend Pastor Michaelson and I made a presentation at a Lutheran Church Extension Fund conference. The LCEF is an organization that does two things. First, they are a place where mission-minded people can invest their money. They offer competitive returns on the investment. But also, the LCEF loans money to congregations. In particular, they loan money to mission congregations to purchase land or to build. We knew our presentation would be focused on the Vail mission. What we didn't know was that some of the other presentations would be focused on the Vail mission and how so many other people are praying for us. It was exciting to see what tools are available to us for ministry to the Vail area. Jeff Rohlwing also provided the music for the conference. He is truly an amazing musician and perfectly set the tone for the weekend. By the end of the conference, everyone was excited about the Vail mission. In fact some of them decided they just had to come to Vail and check it out. Pastor Stoterau, the President of the Pacific Southwest District was also in attendance and was also excited about what God has done here.

Last week, we had a meeting with a developer in Vail who is interested in helping us secure land and a facility. This will be the topic of the next Vision.

Last Sunday we concluded the Vail Dinners. Our goal was to raise $4200 for the dinners of which Thrivent would match up to 50%. That goal was more than reached. Praise God. These funds will go towards our startup costs as we begin worship in Vail. Thank you to Polly Phillips for arranging these dinners. Thank you to Thrivent for your willingness to partner with us. And a special thank you to all of you who opened your homes or participated in a dinner.

That is it for now. Blessings on your day. If anyone has any questions, comments, or concerns, please contact me. It is a joy to be working with all of you.

I encourage all of you to become active in a small group. More on this in an upcoming issue of the Vail Vision.
