Vail Vision November 25, 2005

Praise God for His Bounty!

I love Thanksgiving. It is a time to be with family, friends and food. Each year I promise not to eat so much and each year... well, there's always next year. I have one thing more to be thankful for this year and that is the wonderful blessings that God continues to shower on us in Vail. I am so very thankful for what God is doing. Hallelujah!

Prayer Vigil “ Fountain of Life holds a prayer vigil periodically. Tonight (November 25th) the vigil will focus on Christ Lutheran Vail. Fountain of Life is the mother congregation of our mission and they have provided tremendous support. If you desire to offer a prayer of thanksgiving to God for Vail, you can join with us. You don't' have to drive to Fountain of Life. Wherever you are tonight between 4:00 and 8:00 PM, just take a few minutes and offer prayers to God about the Vail Mission. Here are some suggestions:
  • Thank Him for what He has done and continues doing,
  • Offer prayers for the people living in Vail that through our Mission God would seek them.
  • Offer prayers of thanksgiving for the Vail School District Leadership.
  • Thank Him for the blessings of Fountain of Life.
  • Prayers that as we seek land in the Vail area, He would grant us wisdom.
  • Thanksgiving for the support given to us by the Pacific Southwest District.
  • Thanksgiving for the support from the Lutheran Church Extension Fund.

Mission Support “ Christ Lutheran Vail is a mission of Fountain of Life but also qualifies for mission status from the Pacific Southwest District. We have requested money from the district to supplement the money that is provided by Fountain of Life. This is for facilities rental, salaries, stipends, etc. The District mission committee met this week and they have granted us additional funding over what was requested last year. Thank you to the Pacific Southwest District for all of your support. It is now up to us to make sure that money is used wisely to spread the message of the Gospel to people in Vail.

Advent Worship Mailing “We are conducting a mass mailing to people in Vail to invite them to Advent and Christmas Eve services. The first of these mailings may actually arrive today. We thank God for the Lutheran Church Extension Fund who is providing us with $3500 for these mailings. We also thank Him for the support and guidance being provided by the Lutheran Hour Ministries (design of the mailing and advice on who to mail to). This means that we may have some newcomers over the next few weeks. If you see someone that you don't know at Church, introduce yourself or say hello.

Peasall Sisters Concert “ The Grammy award winning Peasall Sisters are coming to town. Their career took off after singing on the soundtrack for the movie, "O Brother Where Art Thou... I am still working with them to arrange a concert at Cienega High School on New Year's Day (Jan 1 at 6:00 PM). Jeff Rohlwing has agreed to open for them. I should have all this confirmed by the next issue of the Vision.

Christmas Eve Choir “ We will be having a Choir sing at our service at 7:00 on Christmas Eve. I have contacted the school to see if we can use the Cienega High School choir room on the following dates: December 8, December 13, and December 19. We will be doing some fairly easy songs. If you would like to sing in the Christmas Eve choir, come to at least one of these rehearsals. It would be great if you could attend all three, but if you can only attend one, that is OK. We will hopefully have a CD that we can hand out so that you may learn your part while driving on the road or listening at home.

Vail Pride Days “ This is sponsored each year by the Vail School District to showcase the schools and the district. The event will be Saturday, February 11th. We have signed up for a booth to hand out information about our Church. We need helpers. If you are available to helps staff the booth, please contact me.

Church Development Partners “ This organization is helping us obtain land in the Vail area. The hunt is afoot! We might have land to review as early as the first week of December! I will keep you posted in future issues of the Vision.

Blessings on your day. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.
