Vail Vision January 12, 2006

Happy New Year!

I am so excited about the new year at Christ Lutheran Vail. There are so many exciting things I am not sure where to begin!

First and foremost, a few THANK YOUs are in order. To everyone who helped out over the last month to make Christmas, New Years, and the Peasall Sisters concert a success, I say thank you, thank you, thank you.

We had over 160 people for Christmas Eve. The band, the choir, the kid's drama, the special music Christmas day “ all were on top form and did a great job helping us focus on the miracle at Bethlehem.

We hosted almost 200 people for the Peasall Sisters concert. They were stunning. I hope we can invite them back here again. Jeff Rohlwing was awesome as usual. His music really kicked off the evening and provided just the right atmosphere.

I would like to thank Pastor Rachuy, who guided us towards the Peasall Sisters, coordinated the event and did a great job finding sponsors. In case you weren't aware, most of the advertisement costs for the Christmas services and Concerts were provided by local businesses and other agencies. I would like to thank them:

Please visit them and if you get a chance, and thank them for their support.

Now on to current things.

The Christ Lutheran Vail Youth program is beginning. There will be an organizational meeting with parents, kids and other interested people after church this Sunday, January 15th. If you would like to be involved with this program, please join us after church.

This Sunday, the Fountain of Life Choir and Handbell Choir will join us. They will provide music during the worship. I know you will be greatly blessed by these groups and I hope you don't miss it.

We will begin hosting an after-church brunch on the second Sunday of every month. The first one will be held on February 12th. There will be pancakes, sausage and other foods. We will begin serving immediately after the closing hymn. If you would like to help cook pancakes, or if you have a griddle that you would be willing to let us use, please contact Dick Phillips at 647-7684.

We will begin serving communion in March. This begins the Lenten season “ a time when the church reflects on Christ's work on the Cross. Holy Communion is a precious and sacred gift from God. We will be having an all-congregation meeting in February to briefly review the benefits of communion and to determine how often we desire to partake in this sacrament. More on this in upcoming issues of the Vail Vision.

Blessings to you for a wonderful 2006!
