Vail Vision February 16, 2006

Greetings in Christ,

Some days are just really great. Last Sunday we baptized Ruby Anette Hickie. What a wonderful day. But God wasn't there only for Ruby last weekend, His Spirit is there for all of us. Sometimes, His joy is so great, I don't want church to end. But alas, we must come down off the mountaintop and live in the real world. To all of you who didn't get to hold Ruby because I wouldn't let her go,
I apologize. Humor me. But she is too cute!

What do the Tidy Bowl man, Sponge Bob Square Pants and J-Lo have in common? My wife guessed, "Their careers are down the toilet?". Close, but no, that is not the correct answer. You'll just have to come to this weekend's youth outing to find out. Sunday, February 19, 2006 at 11:00 AM. Click Here for more information.

On March 5th , we will celebrate Communion. Because many of you have asked about the Lord's Supper, we are going to have a Bible Study about the Lord's Supper. This will occur immediately after church on February 26th. This short Bible study will walk us through how Christ wants us to see His sacrifice as the crowning event of all creation. Communion is not something we do simply to go through a ritual. When we eat and drink of His body and His blood He is that
sacrifice for us. It is as wonderful as Baptism! For this reason, I am hoping that all of you join us for this Bible Study.

This year's VBS (Vail Bible School) is "Jerusalem Marketplace". There was a HUGE response from Vail Pride Days for the VBS. To handle the anticipated crowd, we will need additional people. The event will last on March 20th through March 24th from 9:00 to 11:00 AM. Even if you cannot be there every day, we have a need to oversee the "specialty" booths - which are not every day. Why not let God richly bless your life this year and take some time to work with his little ones. Contact Jennifer Hook at 777-4401 or call the VBS hotline at 349-1195. Fountian of Life Lutheran Church also operates a Day School and Day Care. If you are looking for an opportunity to learn more about Christian education, you are invited to experience the 2006 Learning Fair. This exciting event will be held on the Fountain of Life campus Tuesday February 28th from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. There will be dinner, entertainment, education, and displays. Click Here for a flyer in Adobe Acrobat format.

If you know of someone that should be reading this newsletter, simply click on this link to subscribe to the Vail Vision (or any of our newsletters). You can unsubscribe at any time, but why?

The Lenten series this year will prepare us as we look forward to Easter Sunday. The Lenten series is "Crosswords". Each week we will examine the words of Christ on the cross and learn their meaning for us. Christ Lutheran Vail is here to strengthen families through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This series will show how God's sacrifice gives us the strength to live in our families. Invite someone you know who needs to hear these messages.

We continue our hunt for land. No news. If you have 10 to 40 acres of land near Cienega High School that you would like to donate to our church, please contact me. But please make sure I'm sitting down.

Thank you to each and every one of you who helped at Vail Pride Day or for the brunch last Sunday.

That is all for now. Blessings on your week. See you at the mountaintop on Sunday!

Vicar David Hook
