Vail Vision February 23, 2006

So.. ..what do the Tidy Bowl man, Sponge Bob Square Pants and J-Lo have in common? I bet you are all wondering what it was? The inaugural youth event occurred last Sunday after church. It was a scavenger hunt. The youth divided into four teams and walked through the neighborhoods around the school. They knocked on people's doors and asked if they could perform a community service. The tasks ranged from washing a car and walking the dog to cleaning a toilet or reading to children. Many of our neighbors were receptive to the youth and there were quite a few positive responses. The youth also handed out information about our church. Thanks very much to Jami Eggold and Krista Gypton who organized and led the event. Thank you to the youth who participated. Your service to our community and to Christ Lutheran Vail is much appreciated.

The next service event will be the roadway cleanup on MaryAnn Cleveland Way. This will be held on Saturday, March 11th. We will meet at the west end of MaryAnn Cleveland Way, (Or whatever that street name is???) at 8:00 AM. Bring water, gloves, hat, sunscreen and your friend. If you can't bring a friend, come make a new one.

On March 5th , we will celebrate Communion. Because many of you have asked about the Lord's Supper, we are going to have a Bible Study about the Lord's Supper. This will occur immediately after church this Sunday, February 26th. This short Bible study start with the Exodus account and reveal how it is the precursor to Christ's sacrifice for all of us. Communion is not something we do simply to satisfy a requirement. When we eat and drink of His body and His blood He is that sacrifice for us. I am hoping that all of you join us for this Bible Study.

This year's VBS (Vail Bible School) is Jerusalem Marketplace. There was a HUGE response from Vail Pride Days and we have already had registration forms faxed in. To handle the anticipated crowd, we will need additional people. The event will last on March 20th through March 24th from 9:00 to 11:00 AM. Even if you cannot be there every day, we need people to help with the "specialty" booths - which are not every day. Why not let God richly bless your life this year and take some time to work with his little ones. Contact Jennifer Hook at 777-4401 or call the VBS hotline at 349-1195. Click here for the registration form.

Fountian of Life Lutheran Church also operates a Day School and Day Care. If you are looking for an opportunity to learn more about Christian education, you are invited to experience the 2006 Learning Fair. This exciting event will be held on the Fountain of Life campus this Tuesday February 28th from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. There will be dinner, entertainment, education, and displays. Click Here for a flyer in Adobe Acrobat format. Many people from Vail and Rita Ranch send their kids to Fountain of Life School. If you desire to learn more about the school this is the opportunity to do so. If you can't attend, but you are interested in the school, please talk to me.

This Sunday we will celebrate the Transfiguration of Our Lord. This is the day that Peter, James and John accompanied Jesus to the top of the mountain. Come Sunday and learn about the Transfiguration and what it means for you today.

That is all for now. Blessings on your week!

David Hook.
