Vail Vision October 25, 2006

Dear fellow Christians,

I have become increasingly agitated over the selling of indulgences in our neighboring province. Johann Tetzel was in seen there again last week. His cry is always the same, "As soon a coin in coffer rings, the soul from purgatory springs". If I hear that one more time, I am going to scream. I know that Leo X needs money to build St. Peter's Basilica, but come on. It's not like we have a lot of money to spend. My fellow Christians, don't buy indulgences! I have been studying Paul's letters to the Galatians and Romans. I am convinced that the only requirement that God has of you is faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

I have been jotting down a few arguments against the selling of indulgences. I am up to 12. I think I will add a just a few more and then I will post then on the door of the church. Look next week. Maybe I can debate Tetzel, the pig.

In other news, I have been working on a hymn from Psalm 46. I am calling it, "A Mighty Fortress is our God". I have a really cool syncopated melody, but the organist says that if we are to sing it in church, we have to change the rhythm. The terrorist!

The church softball league will not meet next week. Due to the loss of the entire outfield to the plague, we have to re-form the teams. I should have this re-formation finished by All-Hallows Eve. I want to get it done before all the trick-or-treaters come up to the church door. Last year, Melanchthon dressed up as Count Vlad Tepes and scared the poop out of the little buggers.

Well, that is all for now. Keep up the good fight. Your ever faithful servant,

Pastor Marty

Fall Rally of the Estrella Zone 29 the LWML
We had three voting representatives at this rally. Pastor Kauth's message "God Changes Things, Including Me! was based on Acts 9 Saul's Conversion. Pastor played the roles of Saul, Jesus and Ananias with great enthusiasm and humor. We all felt as though we were there on the road with Saul and with Ananias as he received instructions from Jesus and delivered the healing of Saul which Jesus had ordered. God can indeed change us too!

Leslie Brekke has been named to the Nominating Committee of Zone 29.

The first meeting will be in early December.
