Advent Prayer Services

Take some time this Advent to intentionally connect with God during Christ Lutheran Vail's three Advent prayer services!

These services will be held at the CLV offices located in the old winery from 6-7pm on December 6, December 13 and December 20.

Don't be intimidated by the word "prayer." You do not have to pray out loud! Each service will be composed of worship, Scripture reading, guided prayer and personal prayer ministry. Each service will have a prayer focus and suggested Scripture verses for meditation.

December 6, 2009 prayer focus - world missions.

Our leader will be Triston Dyer - a missionary on sabbatical from Nepal. Scripture to meditate on:

But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice. Yes, and I will continue to rejoice, for I know that through your prayers and the help given by the Spirit of Jesus Christ, what has happened to me will turn out for my deliverance.I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death. Philippians 1:18-20

December 13, 2009 prayer focus - our nation.

Scripture to meditate on:

...if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place. 2 Chronicles 7:13-15

December 20, 2009 prayer focus - our city.

Scripture to meditate on:

The scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written: "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor." Luke 4:17-19
