Men's Bible Breakfast

(We meet at Dick Phillip's house, off Comino Loma Alta in Del Lago; see below for web site map.)

"I love the Lord, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy.   Because he turned His ear to me, I will call on Him as long as I live." (Psalm 116:1-2, NIV)

Harry Chapin, a singer known primarily for his "Cats in the Cradle" song of the 1970s, sang a song about a truck driver.   The song starts out slow and builds up tempo as this truck driver speeds down a hill, carrying "30,000 Pounds of Bananas" and his brakes fail.   At this fast portion of the song the lyrics continue with:

"And he said, 'Christ!'   Funny how he had named the only man who could save him now."

I just always get a kick out of that song.   How often do we wait until the last moment to call upon our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ?   Jesus wants us to enjoy a personal relationship with Him all the time--and with His father.   That is why He taught us to pray,

  "Our father in heaven..."

Our Lord has turned His ear to us, ready to listen to our pleas, our thanksgivings, our repentance, and is ready to provide His loving care back to us.   He acted first--He loved us first!

What a great gift to have!   Talk/pray to God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and establish and maintain that relationship so many of us desire.   Amen!

Come one, come all men to the monthly Men's Bible Breakfast!   We'll eat some "manly" food and last and best, hear God's word for our growing faith in Him and His Son, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!   Refreshed, we can go out into the world and spread the good news of God's Law and Gospel in His Son, our Lord!

Do not bring any food...bring a Bible if you have one (and this time a lawn chair also!)

Men's Bible Breakfast meets on the second Saturday of each month at various members houses.   This month we'll meet at Dick Phillips house, in the Del Lago community. Contact Matt Evans at 520-203-7609 for more information.
