Summer Parenting Workshop

The Vail Community is invited to our Summer Series Parenting Workshops.

All workshops are from 10:30 to 11:30 in the Cienega High School Band Room. Registration is free, but seating is limited.

June 1 - SENDING CHILDREN TO HIGH SCHOOL: WHAT TEACHERS WISH PARENTS KNEW
Presenters: Jeremy and Krista Gypton
Jeremy and Krista Gypton, well-respected teachers at Empire High School, will lead a discussion for parents whose children will be entering or have just entered high school.

June 15 - SNAKES ALIVE!
Presenter: Laura Wiegand
Laura Wiegand has been with the Game and Fish department for 17 years. This family workshop will show several desert snakes and discuss adaptations that help them survive in the wild. Activities will then apply this idea to wildlife in general. We will then use this as a metaphor for differences in spiritual gifts given to each of us as described in Romans 12:4-8.

July 20 - NURTURING CHILDREN IN THEIR FAITH DEVELOPMENT
Presenter: Jennifer Hook
Explore how faith develops in young children, and how you as a parent or grandparent can help nurture that faith.

August 3: SPEECH AND LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT “ What to expect and what to do when the unexpected happens
Presenter: Mary Boll
Summary: As an audiologist for nearly ten years, now specializing in pediatrics, Mary Boll will present an overview of normal speech and language milestones. She will lead a discussion on developmental delays, some possible causes, and resources for parents in the Tucson area.

August 17: FAMILY MILESTONES: Making them matter
Presenter: Karrie Hurley
Even in today's hectic lifestyle, it is important to set time aside for celebrating family milestones. Karrie Hurley will lead the discussion and provide helpful tips for today's busy families.
