Day 13 - May 19, 2012

One of my favorite episodes of Gilligan’s Island was from Season 1 called “So Sorry, My Island Now”. It’s the story of a Japanese soldier who never learned that the war was over. After he arrives in a submarine, he captures the Castaways as prisoners of war. It’s a funny episode to watch because we know that the war ended in 1945 – almost twenty years prior. The Japanese soldier doesn’t know it, but his side lost.

Prayer is like that. When our will is shaped by God to conform to His will, the war has already been won. There may be battles that must be faced, but they do not change the outcome of the war. Are you fighting any battles now? Have you taken them to God in prayer? How much energy do we expend worrying about minor skirmishes when Jesus already won the war?
