Day 15 – May 21, 2012

In 2010, it was estimated that there were 400,000 missionaries across the world. One out of four of them came from the United States. We send out more missionaries than any other country. And we receive the most missionaries as well. Last year 32,000 people from foreign countries came to the United States to share the Gospel. These are the findings of a study done by The Center for the Study of Global Christianity at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.

Sending people into the foreign mission field is expensive. Since we are a very wealthy country, I am glad that we fund such a large share of the world’s evangelism. But I am always amazed and a bit ashamed that we also receive the highest number of foreign missionaries.

Missionary work is primarily based on relationship. There are likely people in our lives today who will only hear about Jesus because we are in their life. Are waiting for some foreign missionary to come and share the Gospel with those around us?

Blessings,

Pastor David
