Day 23

Day 23 - May 29, 2012

When I was younger, I would hear a Pastor use the words, “Lord if it be your will, please heal…”. I used to think this was a cop out.  The persistent widow didn’t mince words.  She was bold and expected results. Therefore, If we wanted our prayers to be answered, we needed to be bold too.  None of this “If it be your will…” stuff.

But the older I get I have realized that prayer is just as much about seeking God’s will for my life as it is about asking for His help in a particular situation. Jesus knew this all too well. He gets the order right.  He asks for God’s will to be done right at the front of the prayer. It sets the tone for the whole prayer.  What this petition says is this:  “Lord, more than anything, let Your will come into my life”.  Once that is established, it gives us the boldness to ask Him for our daily bread.

Blessings,

Pastor David
