Day 32 - June 7, 2012

Day 32 - June 7, 2021

I have a gym membership and I generally end up at the gym about once a month - when it's time to pay the bill. I haven't noticed myself getting any stronger or having any more endurance from going to the gym once a month. When I do end up going, it is so hard that I don't want to go back.

Today's devotion is about God training us to rule His kingdom through prayer. The Apostle Paul said that physical training is of some use but spiritual training is much more valuable. If I haven't prayed much lately, I find myself avoiding the Lord. Every day that goes by without prayer makes it that much harder to get back on my knees. I am embarrassed and guilty at being so flabby in my prayers.

Thanks be to God that He always takes me back when I show up to train with Him again. Let's not be discouraged when we feel like our prayer muscles have seen better days. Just as with going to the gym, all it takes is putting one foot in front of the other and showing up. God's grace really is enough for us. And He's already paid the bill.

God's peace,

Erin
