Day 37 - June 12, 2012

Day 37 - June 12, 2012

"Exalt God! ...Enjoy God...Be Excited About God!...Have Great Expectations of What God Will Do!...I Extol God!" These tips from our devotion are critical to our life as followers of Christ. At the same time, they are easy to say, hard to do! Praising God seems almost impossible when we're exhausted and at the end of our rope. Praising God is also extremely hard if things have been going really well lately and we've forgotten that we needed God in the first place. Hebrews 13:15 talks about continually offering God a "sacrifice of praise" through Jesus. Yet we often let our emotions determine whether or not we praise. If I prayed and praised and read my Bible when I felt like it, I'm not sure that I ever would. I lack the "want to."

A sacrifice is giving God something that we don't think we can afford to give - sometimes money, sometimes words, sometimes time, sometimes sleep. We need to know that through Jesus Christ, we obtain all that we need to make our sacrifices to God. At the end of one of our busy days, we can ask God to help us choose to praise first and sleep later. And when we praise with even one word, that praise is a beautiful sacrifice to God because we didn't have the time or energy or attitude to give and we gave anyway. And this all because of Jesus Christ who gave His life to give us the "want to."

Yay, Jesus!
