Day 6

Day 6 - September 8, 2012

In November, 2005, Christ Lutheran Vail took a big leap.  We had been meeting on Sunday evenings for food, Bible study, and fellowship.  But now we were ready to take a huge plunge.  We were going to start worship on Sunday mornings.  Would people come?

Christ Lutheran Vail was actually planted and guided by Fountain of Life Lutheran Church.  Throughout their 50-year life span, they have done an incredible job of ministering to east Tucson.  When Pastor Michaelson, then Senior Pastor of Fountain of Life, was explaining the need to plant a church in Vail, he said a very wise thing.  “We’re 50 years old, it’s time we had a baby”.  And so Christ Lutheran Vail was born.

Support from Fountain of Life was incredible.  They did all of the administrative work.  They prayed for our congregation.  They tithed their last capital campaign to our congregation.  But on November, 2005, they did even more.  They provided people.

Pastor Michaelson sent out a letter to Fountain of Life members living in Rita Ranch asking them to worship with our congregation on a regular basis for at least a couple months.  That way, we could boost our numbers.  He felt that by increasing our Sunday morning attendance, we could attract people to our congregation.  I’m sure glad he did.  Our first worship service had about 60 people – and a good chunk of that was my family from Phoenix!  But over time we grew and those people returned to Fountain of Life.

From Pastor Michaelson, Pastor Kauth, and the whole entire congregation of Fountain of Life we have been blessed.  Won’t you join me in praying for our brothers and sisters in the faith?

“Dear God, thank you for your faithful servants that helped us in the birth of our congregation.  Continue to bless them in all they do.  May the kingdom increase because of the work that we do together and may we always seek and do your will”.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.
