Devotion for 28 August

A brief prayer is offered that you can add to your daily prayers this week. The scripture is from our Sunday Service Bulletin for today.  We are continuing a summer sermon series on Psalms.
OT READING: Psalm 150 (English Standard Version)
Praise the Lord!
Praise God in his sanctuary;
    praise him in his mighty heavens!
Praise him for his mighty deeds;
    praise him according to his excellent greatness!
Praise him with trumpet sound;
    praise him with lute and harp!
Praise him with tambourine and dance;
    praise him with strings and pipe!
Praise him with sounding cymbals;
    praise him with loud clashing cymbals!
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord!

Devotion: Praise the Lord!!
Have you ever noticed that Psalm 1 and Psalm 150 [that is to say the first and the last] have the same number of verses and are fairly short? There is a big difference though, in what they say. Psalm 1 is a description of how we should do our duty and Psalm 150 is all about praise. By the way, I counted “Praise” 13 times in six short verses. As our sermon pointed out this morning here is the who, how, and why:
Why? Because of the Lord’s mighty deeds -- one of which is giving each of us [that includes you!] life.
How? Today’s text includes almost all of the musical instruments available at the time. This must mean to use everything we have to praise him, sing, dance, shout, clap your hands, stomp your feet………
Who? Every creature that has breath. Any questions on that one?
We pray: Lord we praise Your Holy Name. Amen
