A Message from Pastor Hook July 15, 2020

Dear Brothers and sisters in Christ

I wanted to give you an update on our congregation.

First, our building is nearing completion. The kitchen, bathrooms and lobby are complete. Once the flooring is installed, the inside should be complete. The chairs should be arriving within a week. And the outside has a bit more work and then it is complete.

I know you are as excited as I am to start worshiping in the building. In following the CDC guidelines, if the sanctuary were open today, we might do communion in the new sanctuary, but we would not go back to full worship just yet. Our heart’s desire is to have a big grand-opening worship service with all of us packed into the sanctuary – but those plans will now change.

Second – We are doing another communion service on July 19th. We did this before and it was a great event. If you want to take communion, please sign up for a slot. And pray that there is no rain that morning.

Third – we will have another community Sunday on July 26th. This was well received when we did this in June and we will do another in July. Please plant to stay after worship on that day and join with your fellow brothers and sisters.

Fourth, the Wednesday night prayer service has been very meaningful, but needs to be tweaked. For the next few weeks we will postpone the service and look for more information.

Fifth and finally, we have made a commitment to make the online worship as meaningful and excellent as possible. Many churches have announced they will not resume in-person worship until January 2021 at the latest and so we will likely be in this situation for many more months. We need to enlist help to accomplish this. If you would like to be involved in planning or executing worship we need creative people, and technical people. Please send message to the church office at info@christlutheranvail.org and we will get you connected.

This is a crazy time, but I believe God will use this epidemic to do amazing things in our world.

Stay safe and God’s blessings,

Pastor David Hook
