| Home Building Ministry in Rocky Point, Sonora Mexico |
| Christ Lutheran Vail is partnering with a non-profit organization in Rocky Point, Mexico to build a home for a family. There are many ways to be a part of this ministry: prayer, volunteer labor and donations to support this effort. Volunteer laborers will need a current passport or travel card. The construction cost for a 12 foot x 26 foot (320 sq feet) home is approx. $3,200 or $10 per square foot. Donations of tools (shovels, trowels, work gloves, and leveling devices) are also being accepted. CLV has been invited to utilize a community center for future ministry opportunities in Rocky Point as well. Monetary donations are now being accepted through Christ Lutheran Vail. Please note "Home Building Ministry" in the checks' memo section. Please contact Lou Ann Negrete at negretela@aol.com or 520-647-7099 or Pastor Hook if you would like more information. A planning meeting will be scheduled in a few weeks. Please prayerfully consider your involvement with this ministry to our neighbors south of the border. |
| On a Green Note |
I have this love-hate relationship with Thomas Jefferson. As you may know Jefferson was the author of the Declaration of Independence. He was a brilliant mind and one of the most important Founding Fathers for our democracy. The Louisiana Purchase and the Louis and Clark Expeditions were major achievements of his presidency. Jefferson was a great philosopher and studied religion and theology but he was also a Deist and Unitarian and did not hold an orthodox view of Christianity. But this is not why I both love and hate him. It has to do with money. |
